After the relief of receiving the results comes the crucial moment of placement. In Côte d'Ivoire, students who passed the CEPE and BEPC exams are now beginning the process of assigning themselves to 6th and 10th grade. To help students avoid pitfalls that could hinder their academic progress, here is a comprehensive guide to the criteria and procedures to follow.

A positive outcome for the 2026 session

This year's exams have delivered their verdict under the direction of Diarra Kadidiata Badji, Director of Examinations and Competitions (DECO):

  1. CEPE (announced on June 1st): The national success rate is 85.76% (a slight decrease of 0.82 points compared to last year).
  2. BEPC (proclaimed on June 16): The admission rate climbs to 52.17% (up 0.76 points compared to 2025).

The allocation operations will officially begin in the second half of July .

Step 1: Data verification (The number one pitfall to avoid)

Before taking any steps, a thorough check of personal information is essential. A single uncorrected typo can paralyze the assignment process.

⚠️ Must be verified: Last name, first name(s), date of birth, gender, student ID number, total points or average grade obtained. If there is any discrepancy, contact the issuing institution immediately for correction.

Step 2: Meet the eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a state-issued assignment, candidates must meet strict age and performance requirements:

For entry into 6th grade (CEPE)

  1. Points required: At least 85 weighted points.
  2. Maximum age: 16 years old by December 31, 2026.

For entry into 2nd grade (BEPC)

  1. Annual average: Minimum 8.5 / 20.
  2. Average orientation score: Minimum 10/20.
  3. Maximum age: 20 years old by December 31, 2026.

Step 3: Conduct the orientation by telephone

The orientation process is entirely digital, conducted via mobile phone. To approach this stage smoothly, here are the golden rules:

  1. Anticipate overcrowding: Find out in advance about available facilities near your place of residence and prepare several backup plans.
  2. Be prepared: Make sure you have at least 200 FCFA of credit on the phone and keep the student's registration number in sight.
  3. Do it yourself: Authorities strongly recommend that parents complete the process themselves. Having someone else do it exposes you to data entry errors or the risk of fraud.
  4. Double check: Once the validation has been completed, make sure you have received the message confirming that the request has been received.
💡 Crucial reminder: Changes are generally limited to one attempt per assignment period. Take time to think before confirming to ensure a stress-free start to the school year!
