Éducation : Le Ministre N’Guessan Koffi s’allie aux experts pour sauver les mathématiques
Faced with the urgent shortage of science teachers and the general decline in student performance, the Minister of Technical Education and National Education, N'Guessan Koffi , is taking action. On Friday, February 13, 2026, he received the strategic support of the Mathematical Society of Côte d'Ivoire (SMCI) , represented by the eminent Professor Saliou Touré .
The observation is undeniable: the second and final years of high school science ( Seconde C and Terminale C) are losing ground in Ivorian schools. To reverse this trend, the Ministry, IRMA (Institute of Mathematical Research), and SMCI are joining forces around several priority areas:
The minister's ambition goes beyond simple crisis management; it is about a real change in educational culture.
"Our plan will primarily help to rekindle our children's interest in mathematics from primary school onwards," said N'Guessan Koffi .
The ultimate goal is clear: to create a pool of scientific talent to supply the E classes of technical high schools and to massively train the future industrial engineers that the country needs.
| Area of intervention | Main objective |
| Pedagogy | Revision of curricula and textbooks. |
| Human Resources | Continuing education for teachers and new ENS (École Normale Supérieure). |
| Orientation | Promotion of the C and E series (technical streams). |
| Expertise | Direct collaboration with Professor Saliou Touré and the SMCI. |
