FUACAA 2026 : L’Art comme moteur du changement social à l’Université de Cocody
The campus of Félix Houphouët-Boigny University has been pulsating since Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to the rhythm of the second edition of the University Festival of Arts and Cultures of Africa and Beyond (FUACAA) . This year, the event places social engagement at the heart of its discussions and festivities.
Initiated by the Faculty of Information, Communication and Arts (UFRICA), FUACAA is more than just a celebration. It's a laboratory where scientific knowledge meets artistic expression. Until April 4th, the program offers a perfect balance:
At the opening, Vagba De Sales , representing the Minister of Culture Françoise Remarck, recalled the profound mission of creation:
"Art is not a luxury; it is the language that the people use to express what politics cannot name."
For Professor André Banhouman Kamaté , director of UFRICA, this festival embodies a modern university, open to the city, where culture acts as a cement for social cohesion.
The general commissioner, Dr. Koné Bassirima , chose to highlight Zouglou for this edition. Born on university benches in the 90s, this musical genre is much more than a melody: it is a heritage and an identity.
The audience will have the privilege of seeing legendary pioneers such as:
The goal? To pass on the history and the rebellious and social spirit of zouglou to new generations of students.
FUACAA 2026 aims to be a pan-African platform where researchers, artists, and citizens engage in dialogue to build the future. Closing on April 4th, the festival hopes to solidify its role as a major hub, demonstrating that the Africa of tomorrow will be creative, committed, and bold .
