To mark World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Indian community residing in Côte d'Ivoire demonstrated its civic engagement. On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Ivorian chapter of the World Federation of Malayalis (WMF) visited the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) with a clear objective: to mobilize nearly 150 donors to replenish the country's blood reserves.
This annual campaign goes beyond simple fundraising; it embodies a strong social and humanitarian commitment. For Arun Surewdran Pillai, president of WMF Côte d'Ivoire, this initiative is a concrete way to support the local health system.
"Ivory Coast has become our second home. Through this operation, we want to show our gratitude to this country and contribute, in our own way, to saving lives," he stated.
He also reminded everyone that blood donation is an essential act of universal solidarity to offer a chance of survival to thousands of anonymous patients.
The impact of the World Blood Donor Movement (WMF) extends far beyond the borders of Côte d'Ivoire. Present at the event, Solomon Franklin emphasized that this mobilization is part of a comprehensive program deployed across 53 African countries. The association's objective is to establish blood donation as a genuine civic duty throughout the continent.
“If my blood can help someone live, then I am happy to give it,” said the donor, encouraging the local population and other communities to follow his example. To recognize their contribution, each participant received a certificate of appreciation.
