Labor Day: The Ivorian Government is focusing on Social Dialogue and Purchasing Power

Fête du Travail : Le Gouvernement Ivoirien mise sur le Dialogue Social et le Pouvoir d'Achat

On the occasion of May 1st, 2026 , Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé presided over the official Labor Day ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office. Representing the President of the Republic, the head of government took this opportunity to reiterate the State's commitment to the sustainable improvement of the quality of life of Ivorian workers.

1. Social Dialogue and Concrete Commitments

The Prime Minister sought to reassure the trade unions: their demands would not be ignored. He promised concrete responses , the result of ongoing consultation.

  1. Labour Code: Continued implementation of the implementing decrees.
  2. Sectoral committees: Strengthening social dialogue to make them genuine spaces for proposals.

2. Safety and Stability: Foundations of Work

In a complex regional context, Mr. Mambé commended the work of the Defense and Security Forces. He paid particular tribute to the Deputy Prime Minister (Defense) and the Minister of the Interior for securing the territory, a prerequisite for a stable working environment.

3. Combating the High Cost of Living and Employment

Faced with inflation linked to global geopolitical tensions, the government reaffirmed its commitment to mitigating the impact on household budgets. At the same time, two priorities were highlighted:

  1. Youth: Accelerating professional integration and massive support for entrepreneurship.
  2. Informal sector: Towards gradual formalization through digitalization and better support for SMEs.

4. Vision for a Prosperous Ivory Coast

The head of government concluded by outlining the main points of public action:

  1. Human capital development.
  2. Acceleration of the agri-food industry .
  3. Major infrastructure projects continue.
