Fin de l’immunité pour les véhicules administratifs en cas d’infraction
In Côte d'Ivoire, the era of leniency for state vehicles seems to be over. The Directorate General of Land Transport and Traffic ( DGTTC ) has officially announced that administrative vehicles will no longer be exempt from impoundment in the event of a traffic violation.
In a circular note published on February 3, 2026, the Director General of the DGTTC, Oumar Sako , specified that these vehicles will henceforth be seized and taken to the administrative impound lot of the Bureau of Administrative Vehicle Management ( BGVA ). This measure aims to establish a principle of strict adherence to best practices within the public administration.
The checks, which primarily focus on the conformity of license plates, also target other categories of users:
Note: The return of the vehicle is conditional upon the restoration of the license plate and the full payment of all fines related to the video ticketing .
This large-scale operation marks a firm commitment by the Ivorian authorities to regulate traffic and put an end to informal privileges on the road.
