The National Office of Civil Protection (ONPC) has reached a historic milestone. On Wednesday, July 15, at its headquarters in Adjamé, the institution officially received a significant shipment of vehicles worth a total of 2.675 billion FCFA, entirely financed by the Ivorian state budget.

The handover ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of the Interior and Security, Vagondo Diomandé, who handed over the equipment to the Director General of the ONPC, Gabin Kassi Amankou.

A modern arsenal to strengthen rescue efforts

This new fleet of intervention vehicles consists of 26 strategic vehicles:

  1. 1 Heavy fire engine (FPT)
  2. 4 Light Fire Engines
  3. 4 Fire Tanker Trucks (CCI)
  4. 7 Ambulances / Victim Rescue Vehicles (VSAV)
  5. 10 Liaison Vehicles (LV)

A vital investment for national security

For Minister Vagondo Diomandé, every cent invested in civil protection is "an investment in the service of life, the safety of the population and the resilience of the nation".

"This ceremony marks an important step in the modernization of our national civil protection system. Beyond simply providing rolling stock, it reflects the government's commitment to sustainably strengthening the operational capabilities of our emergency services to better protect our people, their property and the environment," he stressed.

Faced with a growing number of increasingly complex risks—whether technological, health-related, or linked to climate change—Côte d'Ivoire is adapting its strategy. The government's stated ambition is clear: to build a modern civil protection system by 2030 , capable of anticipating crises and providing a rapid and effective response to emergencies throughout the country.

Towards a reduction in intervention times

The Director General of the ONPC, Gabin Kassi Amankou, expressed his profound gratitude for this major acquisition. He believes this significant gesture from the government will profoundly transform the daily lives of civilian firefighters.

These new facilities will specifically enable:

  1. Optimize the operational network across the Ivorian territory.
  2. Drastically reduce travel times during emergency calls.
  3. To improve the efficiency and support of victims during disasters or catastrophes.
