Sécurité alimentaire : La Côte d'Ivoire sécurise son approvisionnement en engrais auprès du géant OCP
Faced with increasing instability in global markets, the Ivorian government is taking action to protect its farmers. Bernard Comoé, Minister Delegate for Food Production, recently visited Morocco to tour the OCP Group 's industrial facilities in Jorf Lasfar.
This visit follows the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at ensuring a stable supply of high-quality fertilizers for national food crops.
The Ivorian minister inspected the Jorf Lasfar complex, one of the world's largest fertilizer production hubs. The objective was threefold:
"What I have seen confirms that OCP has the necessary capabilities to quickly provide us with quality fertilizers, in sufficient quantity and under accessible conditions," said Bernard Comoé.
The issue is primarily one of sovereignty. Recent geopolitical crises and logistical tensions have caused a surge in input prices, directly threatening the profitability of Ivorian farms and, by extension, the country's food supply.

Beyond simply managing the crisis, this partnership is part of a vision for agricultural modernization championed by the Minister of Agriculture, Bruno Nabagné Koné. By facilitating access to high-quality inputs, Côte d'Ivoire hopes to sustainably increase the productivity of its strategic food sectors.
This partnership with OCP complements other recent agreements concluded with seed companies and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), confirming the country's desire to build a resilient and sovereign agricultural ecosystem.
