UFHB : Sprint de formation pour 60 chercheurs de l’UFR Sciences Pharmaceutiques

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny University (UFHB) in Cocody is buzzing with academic excellence. From May 11 to 15, 2026 , around sixty senior lecturers and researchers from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences (SPB) are participating in an intensive seminar to prepare for CAMES grades.

Strategic coaching for the next generation

The objective is clear: to equip teaching assistants, senior lecturers, and research fellows to face the challenges of the competitive examination for university teaching positions and career advancement. Through practical workshops, simulations, and rigorous assessments, these young academics benefit from mentorship by their senior peers.

"Here, the teacher-researcher is immersed in all the essential modules: from the pedagogy of lectures to the conduct of practical work, up to the methodology of presenting research results," specified Professor Mahama Ouattara , Dean of the UFR SPB, during the opening of this 3rd edition.

The ambition of international influence

For Professor Hervé Menan , president of the CAMES committee at the UFR (Faculty of Sciences and Technologies), the stakes go beyond simple internal promotion. It is about training a young, dynamic generation capable of representing Côte d'Ivoire on the world scientific stage. The stated ambition is to make the UFR an essential center of excellence in West Africa and beyond.

A model for higher education

Professor Ballo Zié , President of the University, praised the initiative as perfectly aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. According to him:

  1. Investing in continuing education for teachers guarantees the future quality of the healthcare system.
  2. Strengthening teaching capacities is a major lever for the development of national human capital.

This seminar, a true laboratory for continuing education, is now seen as a model of success that the university presidency wishes to see extended to other faculties and institutions in Ivory Coast.
