Aboisso : Élan de solidarité après l'incendie du marché, 5,2 millions de FCFA pour les sinistrés
Following the devastating fire that ravaged part of the main market in Aboisso, local authorities are mobilizing to support the victims. On Friday, July 10, 2026, during an official ceremony at the town hall, the president of the South-Comoé Regional Council, Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé , and the mayor, Jérémie Alfred N'Gouan , expressed their concrete support for the affected businesses.
To relieve the victims of this disaster, a total financial aid of 5.2 million FCFA was granted to 54 affected traders .
This handover of funds took place under the supervision of the prefect of the Sud-Comoé region and the department of Aboisso, Ibrahima Cissé . The member of parliament and mayor was represented on this occasion by his first deputy, Jean Paul Bénié .
Speaking on behalf of the two elected officials, Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé shared the emotion of the local authorities in the face of this material tragedy:
"We are here to demonstrate and show our solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been severely affected by the fire at the main market in Aboisso, and to share in their suffering by providing symbolic donations that cannot compensate for the enormous losses they have endured."
The president of the regional council expressed his gratitude to God for the absence of loss of life. He also praised the quick response and bravery of the responders.
Beyond this emergency aid, Dr. Aka Aouélé announced that the regional council and the mayor's office would continue actively lobbying the Ivorian government to obtain more substantial state support . He also commended Prefect Ibrahima Cissé's crisis management from the very first hours of the disaster, while emphasizing the urgent need to implement structural measures to permanently secure market infrastructure.
Speaking on behalf of the merchants, N'zebo Marie-Ange , president of the women's association at the Aboisso main market, expressed her deep gratitude to the elected officials for this gesture of great social significance. She took the opportunity to urge her affected colleagues to remain calm and patient while the ongoing investigations are completed and allow for an optimal resettlement process.
As a reminder, the large market in Aboisso was the scene of a devastating fire on July 4, 2026 at around 4 a.m., causing heavy material losses.
