Côte d’Ivoire : Deux élèves trouvent la mort dans un violent accident à Agnibilékro
A traffic tragedy struck the town of Agnibilékrou on the morning of Wednesday, December 3, 2025. A violent collision between a public transport tricycle and a private vehicle claimed the lives of two students, while several others were seriously injured.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred at the entrance to the city, on the Abengourou–Agnibilékrou road. The tricycle, which was carrying about a dozen secondary school students aged 14 to 16, was reportedly struck head-on by a vehicle under circumstances that are still unclear.
Alerted, the civilian firefighters from the Indénié-Djuablin Civil Protection Center quickly responded to the scene. The preliminary report indicates ten injured people who received emergency treatment and were evacuated to the Agnibilékrou Regional Hospital Center (CHR). Two students, seriously injured, succumbed to their wounds before or shortly after their admission.
Law enforcement and local administrative authorities went to the scene to conduct the usual investigations. An inquiry has been opened to determine the exact causes of this tragic accident and establish responsibility.
This latest tragedy brings the crucial issue of road safety back to the forefront, particularly the use of tricycles for transporting students. Between overloading, excessive speed, and disregard for traffic laws, the risks remain high on many roads across the country, endangering innocent lives every day.
