Explosion à la Carena : douze personnes prises en charge après un incident à bord d’un bateau
An explosion occurred on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, aboard a vessel undergoing maintenance at the Carena facility in Plateau. The alert was raised at 2:29 p.m. , prompting an immediate response from the Military Firefighters Group (GSPM) .
The 1st Indénié company intervened with several specialized vehicles, including the FPT 11 , the AR 11 , the ARGC 11 as well as the MIR 11, 12 and 13 teams, placed under the supervision of the duty officer of sector 2. The GRIMP 22 of the 2nd company Zone 4 was also mobilized as reinforcement.
Initial reports indicate that the explosion occurred in the engine room of a vessel identified as the Bourgon 508 Évolution . Rescue teams conducted reconnaissance and provided immediate assistance to the victims.
The report indicates that twelve people were injured , mostly with minor injuries.
-Two victims refused evacuation ,
-One was transported to PISAM by AR 11,
-Nine were taken to the Plateau medical group by ARGC 11.
No loss of life has been reported.
Operations continued at the scene to secure the area , prevent any further incidents, and allow technical teams to assess the damage. A thorough analysis will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the explosion , which occurred in a sensitive area of the ship.
This incident raises once again questions about safety standards in port and maritime environments, where technical interventions can present major risks.
