After three months of intensive work (from March 23 to June 25, 2026), the Economic, Social, Environmental and Cultural Council (CESEC) officially concluded its first ordinary session of the year in Abidjan. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé , this session was distinguished by its forward-looking approach and its direct alignment with the vision of modernization and shared prosperity of the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara.

The closing ceremony took place in the presence of prominent state figures, including the President of the National Assembly, Patrick Achi (representing the President of the Republic), members of the government, diplomats, and religious and traditional leaders. Of the institution's 111 members, 92 councilors were in attendance.

📌 Key themes and structuring opinions of the session

The results of these three months of activity highlight the sustained work of the five

the institution's standing committees, which led to the adoption of two major opinions during the plenary sessions:

  1. Agro-industry (June 2): A strategic opinion to boost the development policy of this key sector of the Ivorian economy.
  2. Plastic waste management (June 23): Adopted unanimously, this opinion addresses a challenge that is now crucial for public health and the ecological transition. To enrich their deliberations, the advisors also conducted a site visit to Plastica CI , a leading industrial recycling company.
"The management of plastic waste is now a major issue in public health, environmental protection and economic recovery," recalled Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé.

💼 A dynamic of openness: Conferences and diplomacy

To fuel its intellectual output, the CESEC has fostered numerous high-level interactions through:

  1. Major institutional debates: The welcoming of several government figures, including Anne Désirée Ouloto-Lamizana (Civil Service), Théophile Ahoua N'Doli (General State Inspectorate), Amédé Koffi Kouakou (Sanitation) and Ibrahima Kalil Konaté (Trade and Industry).
  2. An opening onto innovation (Silicon Valley): The president of CESEC revisited the mission conducted last April to San Diego State University (United States). Led by the Côte d'Ivoire–Silicon Valley Taskforce , this immersion aimed to draw inspiration from cutting-edge models for entrepreneurship and youth integration.

⚽ A sporty wink to close the session

True to the spirit of national cohesion, Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé concluded the session on a note of sporting fervor by sending his warm encouragement to the Elephants of Ivory Coast, who were then facing the Curaçao selection: "Friendships are not betrayed, between two embraces, we must let the elephants speak," he declared to the applause of the assembly.

With this intense session, the CESEC reaffirms its role as a pioneer of public action, proposing concrete solutions for a modern and sustainable Ivory Coast.
