Antalya : Le nouveau centre de gravité de la diplomatie mondiale

From April 17 to 19 , the pearl of the Mediterranean will transform into a diplomatic capital. The 5th edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) will bring together decision-makers from around the world to discuss an urgent theme: "Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties" .

The meteoric rise of a strategic meeting

Launched in 2021 at the initiative of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the ADF has broken with the conventions of traditional diplomacy. In just five years, what began as a regional initiative has become an essential global hub.

Key figures from this edition:

  1. More than 150 countries represented (i.e., 75% of UN member states).
  2. 20 heads of state and 15 vice-leaders.
  3. Around fifty foreign ministers .
  4. 75 international organizations were present.

A bridge between Africa, Europe and Asia

The composition of the delegations reflects Ankara's diplomatic doctrine: a power capable of engaging in dialogue with all blocs.

  1. Africa and Europe provide almost half of the heads of state present.
  2. The panel of ministers is a balanced mix of Africans (40%), Europeans (35%) and Asians (22%).

This diversity underlines Turkey's ambition to act as a mediator between the Global North and South, offering a platform to emerging powers often overshadowed in traditional bodies such as the UN or the G20.

Beyond the rhetoric: concrete issues

The program is not limited to statements of principle. More than 40 sessions will address cross-cutting themes:

  1. Geopolitics: Special sessions on Gaza, the Balkans and Turkic states.
  2. Systemic challenges: Climate change, technological revolutions and economic uncertainties.
  3. Regional cooperation: An unprecedented four-party meeting between Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt is expected.
"The goal is not to produce binding resolutions, but to maintain open channels of communication in an increasingly fragmented world."

Turkish "Soft Power" on display

Antalya was not chosen at random. Its mild Mediterranean climate offers a less formal setting than the usual centers of power, fostering informal exchanges. For Ankara, it is also an opportunity to consolidate its image as an indispensable mediator, already demonstrated by its interventions in the conflicts in Ukraine and Libya, and its normalization processes with its neighbors (Egypt, Armenia, Israel).

As crises accumulate (Sahel, Ukraine, Middle East), the Antalya Forum recalls a fundamental truth: even if consensus is difficult, continuing to talk to each other is already a victory .

The world is meeting in Türkiye to outline the contours of an uncertain future.
