Donald Trump accentue la pression sur une Cuba « en faillite »

US President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric toward Havana on Monday, calling Cuba a "failed nation." Speaking from Air Force One, he urged the Cuban government to negotiate an agreement with the United States to break the economic deadlock.

No "regime change" by force

Despite the firmness of his remarks, the White House occupant ruled out the possibility of military intervention to overthrow the regime, contrasting with the direct action taken against Nicolás Maduro's Venezuela earlier this year.

  1. Trump's position: "I don't think that's necessary," he stated, favoring diplomatic and economic pressure.

An island suffocated by sanctions

Cuba is currently experiencing a severe crisis, marked by:

  1. Critical fuel shortages .
  2. Recurring power outages .
  3. An embargo tightened by the Trump administration, which is actively dissuading international partners from delivering oil to the island.

Donald Trump himself acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, describing the shortages affecting the population as a "humanitarian threat" , while maintaining that the solution lies in a new bilateral agreement.
