Espagne/ Melilla : 16 ans d’esclavage moderne dans une boulangerie
A bakery owner in Melilla has been arrested for the extreme exploitation of two Moroccan nationals. The investigation has revealed a scenario of rare social violence: the victims worked more than 11 hours a day, without any weekly rest, for a pittance of a salary not exceeding 500 euros.
One of the employees lived in appalling conditions, housed in the bakery itself in a room without a bathroom or kitchen. For 16 and 7 years respectively, these two men were kept in a state of complete illegality, without contracts or social protection. Now recognized as victims of human trafficking, their case is in the hands of the Spanish public prosecutor's office.
