An explosion rocked the area around the US embassy in Oslo late Saturday night. While the incident caused no injuries , it triggered a major security operation in the Norwegian capital.

The explosion occurred at the entrance to the consular section . According to Michael Dellemyr, commander of local police operations, the material damage remains "minor".

Although authorities are remaining cautious about the exact cause of the explosion so as not to hinder the investigation, the theory of a deliberate act is favored. "It seems to us that this was an act committed by someone," Mr. Dellemyr stated tersely to the national media.

A neighborhood under high surveillance

The area was immediately cordoned off by law enforcement. The deployment was impressive, as local residents attested:
