Les États-Unis envisagent d'expulser Kilmar Abrego Garcia vers le Liberia, la date potentielle étant fixée au 31 octobre, selon des documents judiciaires récents.
The 30-year-old Salvadoran national, who immigrated illegally to the United States as a teenager and lived there for years with his U.S. citizen wife, is accused of transporting migrants.
His case is particularly complex:
The US government is now seeking to deport him to a third country, excluding El Salvador. Liberia has agreed to accept him "on a humanitarian and temporary basis." Kilmar Abrego Garcia's lawyers, however, oppose this destination, pointing out the lack of any connection between him and Liberia, and calling the action "punitive, cruel, and unconstitutional."
They claim the administration is using the deportation process to punish him for the embarrassment caused by his initial erroneous deportation. His lawyer said Costa Rica offered to accept him as a refugee, an option deemed "viable and legal" that authorities rejected.
