Mondial 2026 : Le Maroc s'offre l'Écosse et s'empare des commandes du Groupe C !
The Atlas Lions have finally kicked off their World Cup campaign. On Friday, June 19, 2026, Morocco secured their first victory of the competition, defeating Scotland 1-0 in the second round of group stage matches.
Favorites on paper but challenged by a confident Scottish side after their opening victory against Haiti, Walid Regragui's men quickly lived up to expectations. From the 2nd minute , the match turned on a moment of brilliance.
Played through onside by Brahim Díaz, Ismael Saibari found himself wide in the penalty area. With no immediate options, the PSV Eindhoven player took matters into his own hands: a clean, crisp strike that nestled perfectly into the top corner of the Scottish goalkeeper's net. The Díaz-Saibari connection is proving remarkably effective, as the two were also involved in the goal against Brazil in the opening match.
Despite the intensity and commitment of a particularly tough match, this early goal was enough for the Moroccans, who were able to weather the storm and preserve this precious advantage until the final whistle.
Thanks to this success, Morocco has achieved an excellent accounting operation and has provisionally taken the lead in the group.
The provisional standings for Group C:
| Rank | Team | Points |
| 1 | 🇲🇦 Morocco | 4 |
| 2 | 🏴 Scotland | 3 |
| 3 | 🇧🇷 Brazil | 1 |
| 4 | 🇭🇹 Haiti | 0 |
Coming up: The imminent clash between Brazil and Haiti could reshuffle the cards and determine the true leader of this Group C at the end of this second day.
