Moyen-Orient : Pékin exhorte l'Iran au dialogue face à Israël et aux États-Unis
As the conflict enters its fourth week, China is breaking its silence. In a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that "negotiation is better than confrontation." Beijing is now calling on Tehran to seize the diplomatic opportunity presented by Donald Trump, who suggested a five-day pause in airstrikes to allow for dialogue.
Iran, through its spokesperson Araghchi, has stated its readiness for a lasting peace rather than a mere truce, while guaranteeing maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz (except for the warring parties). However, China has set a clear limit: it condemns Iranian strikes targeting Gulf states. Despite Washington's cautious optimism, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament is currently denying any official negotiations with the Trump administration.
