NBA : Jalen Brunson sur une autre planète, les Knicks pulvérisent les Sixers en ouverture
Madison Square Garden erupted with excitement for a true show of force. In this first game of the Eastern Conference semifinals, the New York Knicks left the Philadelphia 76ers with nothing but crumbs, securing a resounding 137-98 victory. A powerful message sent right from the start of the series.
If there was one man to stop on Monday night, it was Jalen Brunson . The Knicks' point guard delivered a near-perfect performance.
At halftime, the gap was already abysmal ( 74-51 ), turning the second half into a long agony for Philadelphia.
However, the start of the game suggested a more evenly matched contest. Joel Embiid (14 points, 4 rebounds) tried to impose his physicality in the paint, while Paul George added 17 points to the score. But the energy wasn't there.
It must be said that the Sixers arrived with heavy legs, having just come off a grueling Game 7 against the Celtics two days earlier. Against the New York juggernaut, their lack of freshness proved costly.
With this 39-point victory, New York confirms its status as a serious contender for the conference title. For Philadelphia, the situation is already critical.
"This team is serious, sharp, and Brunson is in a form that would make any opponent tremble."
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night, still in the Knicks' arena, for a Game 2 that already looks set to be decisive for the morale of Nick Nurse's troops.
