Quatre décès liés à la neige et au froid en une semaine : conseils d'Urgences-Santé pour la prévention
Four people, including three seniors, tragically lost their lives in winter-related incidents in Quebec this week. In response to these tragedies, Urgences-Santé (Quebec's public health unit) has issued essential safety recommendations for everyone, particularly during snow removal activities and outings in cold weather.
The case of a 58-year-old man found buried under snow in Repentigny – who had heart problems – highlights the risks associated with intense physical exertion in cold weather.
"You have to listen to your body, you have to respect yourself," insisted Jean-Pierre Rouleau, spokesperson for Urgences-Santé.
The week was also marked by the deaths of three seniors (aged 78, 84, and 88) in the greater Montreal area due to the extreme cold. To prevent such tragedies, Urgences-Santé (the Montreal ambulance service) emphasizes the importance of caution and preparation.
Jean-Pierre Rouleau reminds us that, although circumstances vary from case to case, prevention remains the best tool for getting through winter safely.
