Sénégal : Une coalition d'organisations s’oppose à l’intervention américaine au Venezuela
On Saturday, January 10, a coalition of some twenty Senegalese civil society organizations, unions, and political parties met at the Venezuelan embassy in Dakar. Their objective: to strongly condemn the United States' military operation against Venezuela and demand the release of President Nicolás Maduro.
Faced with the silence of the Senegalese authorities and the caution of regional bodies (AU, ECOWAS), the collective intends to exert pressure to obtain an official condemnation. For Diagne Fodé Roland, coordinator of "Samp Afrig," Senegal must follow the example of countries like South Africa or the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) by asserting its position on the international stage.
For his part, Souleymane Gueye (FRAPP) warns against a dangerous precedent: protecting Venezuelan sovereignty would, in his view, amount to anticipating the protection of African strategic resources. A demonstration of support is planned soon in Dakar.
