Tragédie en Argentine : un adolescent ouvre le feu dans un collège de Santa Fe
On Monday morning, what should have been a routine school day turned into a nightmare at Mariano Moreno College in San Cristóbal. A 15-year-old opened fire inside the school, killing a 13-year-old and injuring eight others.
The tragedy unfolded as the school's 1,500 students were preparing for the daily flag-raising ceremony. According to witnesses, the assailant emerged from the restroom armed—likely with a shotgun —before opening fire.
"He started shooting into the air, and we all started running," says Priscila, a student who was present at the scene.
The attack plunged the province of Santa Fe into mourning:
The shooter was immediately apprehended. Although his identity remains confidential, initial reports paint a picture of a teenager with no prior disciplinary record, but from a "very complex" family background .
The province's Minister of Justice and Security, Pablo Cococcioni, clarified that this was not a settling of scores related to the school.
School shootings are extremely rare in Argentina, making the event all the more traumatic for this town of 16,000 inhabitants.
The investigation is ongoing to determine how the teenager obtained the weapon and the exact motives behind his actions.
