Crise à l’UNJCI : La direction monte au créneau contre Lucien Houédanou
The Board of Directors and the Executive Council of the National Union of Journalists of Côte d'Ivoire (UNJCI) were quick to react. Following the remarks by Lucien Houédanou, Vice-President of the CIJP Commission, calling for the Union to be placed under supervision, the governing bodies expressed their strong indignation.
In response to remarks deemed "contemptuous," the UNJCI (National Union of Youth of Côte d'Ivoire) described Mr. Houédanou's intervention on Radio de la Paix as "casual." The leadership reiterated that, despite a complex context, the Extraordinary Congress of February 25, 2026, legally extended its mandate. Furthermore, an internal mediation process, led by the Council of Elders and former presidents, is already underway to stabilize the organization.
Denunciation of destabilization maneuvers. The conflict is also escalating on the administrative front:
In conclusion, the UNJCI reaffirms its autonomy and assures that it will not yield to any administrative pressure aimed at weakening Ivorian press institutions.
