Lutte contre la corruption : Des personnalités politiques dans le viseur de la HABG
Invited to the 2nd edition of the forum "Les Grands Rendez-vous de l'AIP" this Thursday, June 4th in Abidjan-Plateau, the president of the High Authority for Good Governance (HABG), Epiphane Zoro Bi Ballo, made some striking revelations about the actions underway within his institution.
Mr. Zoro Bi Ballo formally confirmed that prominent political figures are currently under investigation. Whether it involves verification of asset declarations or investigations conducted in close collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit, the HABG is implementing its procedures without any discrimination.
"These investigations take time, and this is not unique to Ivory Coast. However, the hearings of the Criminal Division are public, and everyone can see that major cases are currently undergoing legal proceedings," the president of the institution emphasized to reassure about the progress of the cases.
The other major announcement from this meeting concerns the implementation of a new strategic tool: the National Governance Index . This instrument will allow Côte d'Ivoire to assess its own level of governance and corruption, thus freeing itself from exclusive dependence on international ratings.
"Until now, our governance was assessed solely by external agencies. From now on, we will publish our own indices," rejoiced the president of the HABG.
Created by Ordinance No. 2013-661 of September 20, 2013, the High Authority for Good Governance is the central body of the Ivorian system for preventing and fighting corruption and related offenses.
