The investigation into the tragic death of the Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank Côte d'Ivoire has just reached a decisive stage. Nearly a year after the events, the second alleged accomplice has been arrested by law enforcement in Bingerville.

A recap of the facts: a heinous crime in Plateau

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, as part of Operation Sparrowhawk, the lifeless body of the high-ranking official, an American-Cameroonian national, was discovered at his residence. The crime scene, located on the 24th floor of the Atta Tower in the Plateau business district, revealed evidence of a large-scale theft: his official vehicle, cell phones, and computers were missing.

The downfall of the suspects

The Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) conducted a rapid investigation which led them to the perpetrators:

1. The first suspect (SA): The victim's former driver, he was arrested on April 15, 2025. He was in possession of the stolen equipment (computers, phones) and the vehicle keys. During questioning, he confessed and implicated his accomplice.
2. The second suspect (ZGJF): Actively sought since then, he was finally captured this Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in Bingerville.

The confessions and the autopsy findings

When questioned by investigators, the second suspect confirmed his active participation in the crime. Both individuals admitted to strangling the victim to achieve their goal. These statements corroborate the autopsy results, which concluded that the death was caused by asphyxiation .

Note: The two accused will now have to answer for their actions before the courts for murder and aggravated robbery.
