PTUA : L’ex-responsable financier condamné pour un détournement de 138 millions FCFA
The verdict has been reached for the former financial manager of the Abidjan Urban Transport Project (PTUA). Tried by the criminal, economic and financial division, the former executive was found guilty of embezzlement of public funds, illicit enrichment and money laundering .
Severe criminal and civil penalties
The court imposed a series of restrictive measures and deprivations of rights on the convicted man:
- Deprivation of rights: Withdrawal of passport (3 years) and deprivation of civil and political rights (5 years).
- Professional ban: Prohibition from working as an Administrative and Financial Director (CFO) or holding any public office for 3 years.
- Seizures and confiscations: His bank accounts (notably at Orabank) as well as two four-room villas, located in Abatta and in Cité Don Mello, were confiscated for the benefit of the State.
Financial reparations
The court ordered significant compensation for the injured parties:
- AGEROUTE: The defendant must reimburse the full 138 million FCFA embezzled, plus 50 million FCFA in damages. This decision is subject to immediate enforcement.
- State of Côte d'Ivoire: As a civil party, the State will receive 10 million FCFA in damages.
Note: This conviction marks an important step in the fight against corruption and mismanagement of funds allocated to the country's major infrastructure projects.
