The PDCI-RDA , a pillar of the Ivorian opposition, marked a historic turning point this Saturday, April 18, 2026. Gathered in the political capital, Yamoussoukro, thousands of activists celebrated the party's eight decades of existence under the banner of remembrance and reconquest.

A heritage celebrated at the source

It was on the esplanade of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation that the political family of "The Old Man" gathered to honor its creation on April 9, 1946. The day was punctuated by:

1. A moment of reflection: A delegation bowed before the tomb of Félix Houphouët-Boigny.
2. Recognition: Ten party figures were decorated in the order of merit for their exemplary loyalty.
3. The story: A reminder of the party's central role in building modern Ivory Coast, from independence until the break of 1999.

The focus on power

Under the leadership of President Tidjane Thiam , who was represented for the occasion, the message was unequivocal: the PDCI-RDA is preparing to take back the reins of the country.

"We are determined to bring the PDCI back to power," insisted the representative of Tidjane Thiam, supported by Vice-President Traoré Adam , who praised the resilience of a party present on every square centimeter of the national territory.

Dialogue and political fraternity

Notably, the ruling party welcomed this anniversary. Augustin Thiam , speaking on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara, emphasized the shared values between the RHDP and the PDCI, urging both sides to preserve national stability through dialogue. The presence of delegations from the PPA-CI and the FPI also underscored the importance of this gathering for the entire political class.

A celebration that extends

Yamoussoukro was just the starting point. The 80th anniversary celebrations will continue with a national caravan visiting major cities across the country:

2. Bouaké
3. Korhogo
4. Daloa , as well as Abengourou, Man and Daoukro.
