Antoine Kanga et le bastion de M’batto basculent au RHDP
The political landscape of the Moronou region is undergoing a major shift. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Antoine Kanga , the deputy-mayor of M'batto, officially announced his membership in the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP) during a massive rally at Place Gravier.
Formerly a leading figure of the PPA-CI (opposition) in the locality, the elected official did not come alone: he brought with him a wave of supporters, thus marking a recomposition of local forces.
The ceremony benefited from top-level political support, demonstrating the importance of this victory for the ruling party:
According to N'Guessan Ahondjon, associate coordinator, this move to the RHDP is not a rash decision but the result of a dialogue that began in 2023. For the party leadership, it is a "responsible choice" which allows the RHDP to now claim the majority of elected officials in this formerly contested region.
For Antoine Kanga, this change of allegiance is dictated by pragmatic realism . He justified his decision by his desire to better serve his constituents:
"The goal is to effectively meet expectations regarding infrastructure, youth employment, and social services."
In presenting the sashes and founding documents to the new activists, Cissé Bacongo emphasized immediate integration and grassroots mobilization. For her part, Kandia Camara concluded optimistically, stating that Moronou is now establishing itself as a solid base for the RHDP , driven by a dynamic of stability and progress.
In short: With this alliance, the presidential party consolidates its local foothold and weakens the influence of the opposition in the east of the country as the next elections approach.
