Arrestation de Damana Pickass : ses avocats s’expriment depuis Paris
In a video statement posted on Facebook this Wednesday, Sylvain Senda, accompanied by a group of lawyers from the Paris Bar, spoke on behalf of the defense of Damana Adia Pickass, vice-president of the African People's Party – Ivory Coast (PPA-CI) and coordinator of the Common Front. He was arrested on the evening of Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Bingerville, according to a statement from prosecutor Koné Braman Oumar.
The group of lawyers called on the Ivorian authorities to strictly respect the fundamental rights of their client, recalling the principle of the presumption of innocence after the accusations by the public prosecutor that Mr. Pickass had launched calls for insurrection.
They also demanded clarification on the legal framework surrounding Mr. Pickass's arrest and detention conditions, insisting on the need to guarantee his physical and mental integrity, in accordance with international human rights conventions. The group warned that, should serious human rights violations be observed, it reserves the right to bring the matter before international courts based on universal jurisdiction.
Finally, the lawyers called on the Ivorian state to be responsible and transparent, reaffirming their determination to ensure full respect for the rights of the defense.
