Assalé Tiémoko bloqué à l'aéroport et interdit de sortie de territoire
The president of the "Today and Tomorrow, Ivory Coast" (ADCI) movement, Assalé Tiémoko Antoine, was prevented from leaving the country on Monday, May 11, 2026. This situation has sparked outrage from his camp, who denounced it as an arbitrary measure.
As he was preparing to depart for North America from Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, the former member of parliament for Tiassalé was abruptly stopped in his tracks. According to an urgent statement issued by the ADCI Executive Secretariat, this trip was part of a political mobilization tour targeting the diaspora, scheduled from May 12 to 26, 2026 .
The political movement highlights a major contradiction in this procedure:
To date, neither the person concerned nor his legal counsel have received any notification concerning any indictment, judicial supervision or restrictive measure on leaving the territory.
"The ADCI movement is astonished that no restrictive measures have been notified since April 22. This incident gives the impression of a trap intended to humiliate our president," the statement denounces.
This North American tour was not a surprise. Planned and publicly announced at the Nantes seminar in March 2026 , it aimed to establish the foundations of the movement internationally.
The ADCI reaffirms the republican character of Assalé Tiémoko, specifying that he never intended to evade justice, but demands that the law be respected by the prior notification of any administrative or judicial measure.
