Cameroun : Issa Tchiroma Bakary lance un ultimatum de 48 heures à Paul Biya
Cameroonian opposition leader Issa Tchiroma Bakary surprised many by issuing a 48-hour ultimatum to President Paul Biya , whom he accuses of political repression following the October 2025 presidential election. In a video statement widely shared on social media this weekend, the leader of the Front for Justice and Development (FJD) demanded the immediate release of those arrested after the disputed election.
“I will not remain silent in the face of injustice. If nothing is done within 48 hours, the people will take matters into their own hands,” warned Issa Tchiroma, clearly determined to maintain pressure on the current regime. He denounced what he called an “authoritarian drift” and a “seizure of power through fear ,” while calling on Cameroonians to mobilize peacefully.
No official reaction has yet been recorded from the Cameroonian government. But this ultimatum, just weeks before Paul Biya's inauguration, risks reigniting political tensions in a context already marked by protests and calls for national dialogue.
