The Ivorian Minister of Sports, Adjé Silas Metch, received the Spanish Ambassador, Guillermo Merin Gorbea, in Abidjan on Thursday, March 19, 2026. The discussions focused on drafting a memorandum of understanding to structure bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Spain wishes to contribute its expertise to support the growth of Ivorian sport. "Côte d'Ivoire is brimming with talent and shares with Spain this common passion for sport," the Spanish diplomat emphasized. Delighted by this prospect, Minister Metch reiterated the Ivorian government's commitment to strengthening sporting and diplomatic ties with Madrid.
