The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has officially announced the date of the next legislative elections in Côte d'Ivoire. In accordance with Presidential Decree No. 2025-656 of July 30, 2025, voters are called to the polls on Saturday, December 27, 2025 .

The Permanent Secretary of the IEC, Kouamé Adjoumani Pierre, specified in a press release published this Wednesday, October 22, 2025 that the period for receiving application files will begin on October 31 and end on November 12, 2025 inclusive . The files must be submitted to the headquarters of the Commission, located in Cocody, Route du Zoo.

To be eligible, the candidate must meet several key conditions:

1. Be at least 25 years old.
2. Possess Ivorian nationality (by birth or naturalized for at least ten years).
3. Be registered on the electoral roll.
4. Provide proof of continuous residence in Côte d'Ivoire for the five years preceding the election.

A deposit of 100,000 CFA francs is also required, and the file must be complete, including in particular an extract from the birth certificate, the certificate of nationality, a criminal record, a certificate of tax regularity and official photographs.

A specific rule applies to constituencies with multiple seats: candidates must be submitted as a list. When the number of seats exceeds two, these lists must include a quota of at least 30% women. Alternates, for their part, must meet the same eligibility criteria as incumbents, with the exception of paying the deposit.

The CEI urges all political parties and independent candidates to strictly observe the provisions of the Electoral Code in order to ensure the proper conduct of a "peaceful, transparent and inclusive" electoral process.
