Intégration régionale : L’Assemblée nationale ivoirienne se mobilise pour la "Vision 2050" de la CEDEAO
Meeting in session on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Abidjan, the National Assembly officially reiterated its strategic support for ECOWAS's Vision 2050. This seminar, part of the organization's 50th anniversary celebrations, marks a key step in the involvement of parliamentarians for a more integrated West Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the institution's presidency, Adom Kacou Léon , chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, outlined the roadmap for the members of parliament. According to him, the role of parliamentarians is threefold:
"It is up to us to bring this vision to our fellow citizens [...] and to ensure that it produces concrete results," he stated with conviction.
Vision 2050 is not intended to be merely a theoretical concept. It is based on fundamental pillars to address current challenges, particularly those related to security:
Fathmah Diarré , the ECOWAS interim resident representative, reiterated that this new direction places people at the heart of its priorities. She commended Côte d'Ivoire's political will, under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara , while emphasizing that the success of this ambition hinges on a "shared responsibility" between decision-makers and civil society.
In short, the National Assembly stands as an indispensable bridge between the regional directives of ECOWAS and the daily realities of Ivorians.
