Présidentielle 2025 : Jean-Louis Billon appelle à privilégier les urnes à la rue

With the presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025 , just days away, the electoral campaign is actively continuing in Côte d'Ivoire. Democratic Congress (CODE) candidate Jean - Louis Billon spoke in an interview with Abidjan.net on Friday, October 17. During this exchange, he discussed the current political situation, including the opposition march organized on October 11, as well as his economic priorities.

Reacting to this demonstration held in Paris, Jean-Louis Billon believed that the search for political change must involve electoral participation. "The opposition, which was not selected, is asking to demonstrate and is taking the serious responsibility of seeing the consequences we are experiencing with one death already. I always say, I am a political actor, but I would never allow myself to ask for children and young people to be put on the streets. It is too heavy a responsibility. The best way to achieve political change is to participate in elections," he declared.

The CODE candidate added that, in his opinion, change is achieved through voting. "When you want change, you get it at the ballot box. The opposition must express itself at the ballot box. On the contrary, instead of putting children on the streets, we must tell children to come out en masse to vote," he said.

Also speaking on economic issues, Jean-Louis Billon discussed his plan to strengthen national taxation and promote Ivorian preference. He indicated that he wanted to encourage local savings and encourage private sector growth. "We must be able to encourage savings in a country and ensure that these savings can be used. That's why I talk about national preference: I prefer that all the turnover we generate in Côte d'Ivoire remains, for the most part, in Côte d'Ivoire," he explained.

The candidate believes that a politically stable country relies on a strong economy. "A country is politically strong because it is first and foremost economically strong. We must have a strong economy. This requires economically strong Ivorians first. I want to support and protect Ivorian businesses," he added.

Jean-Louis Billon also promised, if elected, to reduce the state's standard of living in order to ensure better management of public resources.

The election of the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire is scheduled for October 25, 2025 , while the electoral campaign will end on Thursday, October 23 at midnight .
