Drame à Grand-Lahou : Plusieurs morts et disparus après le chavirage d'une pinasse à Liboli
A serious boating accident has plunged the sub-prefecture of Grand-Lahou into mourning this Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Around 9:30 a.m., a makeshift pinasse capsized near the village of Liboli (located at PK 30), plunging the local community into dismay.
The boat was mainly carrying female traders from the village of Liboli. They were returning from the weekly market in a neighboring town when the flimsy pinasse suddenly capsized mid-crossing for reasons that are still undetermined.
Two hours after the tragedy, at 11:30 a.m., local authorities and rescue services established an initial assessment of the tragedy concerning the 18 passengers initially on board:
Operations underway: The search continues actively on the water to find the missing passengers. During this particularly painful time, the entire community's thoughts are with the families of the victims and all those affected by this tragedy.
