Moronou : arrestation d'un tueur en série présumé après la décapitation d'une septuagénaire
The Moronou region is in shock. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Aman Zibla Thérèse, a 71-year-old woman, was brutally murdered and beheaded near the village of Yobouesso (sub-prefecture of Andé). Arrested shortly after the crime, the main suspect, a man nicknamed "Adjoumani," confessed to this murder as well as several other bloody attacks in the region.
The tragedy occurred in the middle of the afternoon, in the pouring rain. The victim, born in 1955, was returning home after collecting firewood in her field. Just a short distance from the village, she was intercepted and fatally attacked with a knife.
The suspect, a Lobi national who had been living in the area for some time, cut off his head before fleeing.
Despite the bad weather, rumors of the tragedy prompted two young men from the village to go to the scene. On their way, they encountered the suspect, a bloodied machete in his hand. To deflect suspicion, he claimed that another woman from his own community had just been attacked.
Continuing on their way, the two young people ignored his words and discovered the decapitated body of Aman Zibla Thérèse. No other attacks were reported in the vicinity.
The arrest: Alerted immediately, the Bongouanou gendarmerie deployed a search operation. The suspect was located and arrested the following day around 2 a.m. in Bénéné, a neighboring village.
During his interrogation at the gendarmerie, the man confessed. His statements revealed a criminal history far more extensive than initially thought.
To justify the murder of the 70-year-old woman, the suspect cited a personal dispute, claiming that the victim had accused him of raping her daughter. This version of events is disputed by the villagers, who point out that the deceased only had adult daughters. Furthermore, the suspect had previously worked as a laborer on the victim's plantations, making the act even more incomprehensible to those close to her.
The suspect is currently in police custody in Bongouanou. The judicial investigation continues to shed light on these serial crimes that have plunged Moronou into mourning and incomprehension.
