As part of its fight against extortion and clandestine checkpoints, the Ivorian government has published the list of 33 officially authorized roadblocks across the country.

The authorities' objective is clear: to streamline the transport of goods, ensure safer travel, and put an end to the abuses suffered daily by motorists and haulers. From now on, any roadside checkpoint established outside of this list is strictly illegal.

Geographical distribution of the 33 legal checkpoints

To help you find your way around during your journeys, here are the locations where the presence of law enforcement is formally confirmed:

1. Northern Zone (9 posts): Tiéfinzo, Tengréla, Pogo, Minignan, Ouangolodougou, Boundiali, Ferkessédougou, Odienné and Korhogo.
2. Northeast Zone (3 posts): Doropo, Bouna and Bondoukou.
3. Central Zone (6 posts): Touba, Mankono, Niakaramandougou, Séguéla, Bouaké and Yamoussoukro.
4. Western Zone (5 posts): Man, Danané, Duékoué, Toulepleu and Daloa.
5. Eastern Zone (2 posts): Agnibilékrou and Abengourou.
6. Southern Zone (8 posts): Gagnoa, Soubré, Elibou, Aboisso, Abidjan, Noé, San Pedro and Tabou.

The government is calling on the public to become active participants in this road cleanup effort. If you witness or are a victim of extortion, or if you encounter an illegal roadblock, you are urged to report it immediately.
