The National Investment Bank (BNI) is strengthening the capacity of the National Cancer Control Program (PNLCC). The financial institution officially donated three thermocoagulation devices , a crucial medical technology that uses heat to eliminate precancerous lesions and small tumors by vaporizing the tissue.

A civic commitment to save lives

For Youssouf Fadiga, CEO of BNI, this gesture reflects the bank's desire to position itself as a supportive partner of the health authorities.

"Our ambition is simple: to contribute, at our level, to saving lives, strengthening care capacities and offering more hope to populations, especially women," he stated, while reiterating BNI's long-term support for public welfare initiatives.

Mobile equipment to reach remote areas

Professor Adoubi Innocent, Director of the PNLCC, warmly welcomed this donation, which he described as "of vital importance." The major advantage of these new devices lies in their mobility and ease of use , allowing for the deployment of screening and treatment campaigns directly in the most isolated regions of the country.

The effectiveness of the device is, moreover, remarkable:

  1. Success rate: More than 90% of detected precancerous lesions can be treated effectively.
  2. Speed: A simple procedure that only takes 2 to 3 minutes .

Cervical cancer in Ivory Coast: A major challenge

Cervical cancer remains a critical public health problem in the country. Key figures and national targets are summarized as follows:

Indicator / Target Figures and Forecasts
New cases per year ~3,000 women diagnosed
Annual deaths + 1,400 deaths
Vaccination Target (Horizon 2030) 90% of girls aged 9 to 14 are vaccinated
Screening Objective (Horizon 2030) 70% of the women targeted (with a realistic target of 55% )

Thanks to this partnership between BNI and PNLCC, Ivory Coast is taking another step towards its goal of eliminating this cancer by 2030.
