La Côte d’Ivoire a-t-elle peur d’une résurgence de l’épidémie de la Covid-19 ?

In Côte d'Ivoire, health authorities are concerned about a possible resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic. According to "Fraternité Matin," the Ministry of Public Health published a statement yesterday, Thursday, revealing that influenza, Covid-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection are being monitored epidemiologically in the country. This health surveillance is being conducted by the National Institute of Public Hygiene (INHP) and the Pasteur Institute of Côte d'Ivoire (IPCI).

"Weekly positivity rates for influenza and Covid-19 are below the epidemic threshold."

The two entities have established a sentinel network comprised of 10 sites, including 5 in Abidjan and 5 others in the interior of the country. "The data (from this) network indicate that the weekly positivity rates of influenza and Covid-19 recorded at the sentinel sites, as of November 5, 2025, are below the epidemic threshold."

In short, the current trend in the evolution of cases and the dynamics of the circulation of respiratory viruses under surveillance do not allow us to conclude that there is an epidemic of influenza or Covid-19 in Côte d'Ivoire. However, health monitoring continues.

Wearing a mask, washing hands regularly with soap and water…

The network monitors the circulation of respiratory viruses daily and investigates alerts. Due to the current weather conditions, which favor the emergence of acute respiratory infections, the ministry recommends that the public wear masks, wash their hands regularly with soap and water, and get vaccinated against seasonal influenza. If symptoms suggestive of an acute respiratory infection are present, consult the nearest health center.
