Santé en Afrique : Abidjan devient le laboratoire de la "Vision 2035"
Since April 13, 2026, Abidjan has been the nerve center of African public health. The Ivorian metropolis is hosting a historic meeting bringing together 47 countries to define the continent's health trajectory through two pillars: the Regional Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and the ambitious WHO Vision 2035 .
Under the theme "A New Era of Health for Africa: United Action for Vision 2035," this conference is not intended to be a mere administrative meeting. For Pierre Dimba , the Ivorian Minister of Health, it is about shaping the future of healthcare systems for the coming decade.
"Building a new era of health is not just an ambition, it is a collective imperative," he said, stressing that this strategy is based on local realities identified during prior national consultations.
Dr. Diallo Abdourahmane , representing the WHO Regional Office for Africa, reiterated that the health sector must now be considered a driver of sustainable development. Discussions include major challenges such as:
One of the key points of this meeting is alignment with the African Union's Agenda 2063. Faced with budgetary constraints, the WHO advocates for "rigorous prioritization." The idea is simple: to focus efforts on high-impact initiatives capable of generating concrete and quantifiable results for populations.
In summary: Until April 17, the delegations present at the Sofitel Ivoire are working to transform health systems to make them more resilient, safer and, above all, adapted to the real needs of a continent in full change.
