Abidjan : 131 milliards de FCFA de la BID pour révolutionner le transport urbain
The Ivorian government has taken a key step in the modernization of Abidjan. On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, a €200 million (approximately 131 billion CFA francs) agreement with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) was ratified in the Council of Ministers.
This funding is dedicated to the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Mobility Project .
The ambition is colossal: 164 km of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines, 65 km of metro lines, and an expansion of lagoon transport. The first phase will focus on creating multimodal transport hubs (particularly in Cocody) and rehabilitating roads to include cycle paths and sidewalks.
