Since Thursday, March 12, 2026, Abidjan has been hosting the West African regional caucus of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa). This strategic two-day meeting aims to harmonize the voice of West African communities before the organization's major transformation.
Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of UCLG Africa, noted that this caucus is the last in a continental series. Its purpose is threefold:
"These meetings allow us to better understand the contribution that Africa intends to make at the global level," Mr. Mbassi stated.
