On Saturday, February 28, 2026 , Camp Galliéni experienced a historic moment marked by fervor and gratitude. A double ceremony was celebrated: the second edition of the Day of Thanksgiving to the Eternal and the official inauguration of a new worship hall dedicated to Protestant and Evangelical military personnel.

The event brought together more than 200 military and paramilitary personnel, alongside high-ranking religious authorities and the general staff.

A spiritual foundation for a strong institution

Representing General Lassina Doumbia , Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Traoré Amed emphasized the symbolic significance of this project. For the command, this site transcends mere physical infrastructure:

1. A vector of values: The structure aims to build an army anchored on solid moral foundations.
2. Psychological support: Religion is seen as an essential lever for troop morale, without contradicting the secular nature of the state.
3. A refuge for the soul: The room is intended to "heal the wounds" of soldiers and their families facing the trials of the profession.

"This new building is the foundation of an ambition to build a strong military institution, anchored in solid moral and religious values," said General Physician Traoré Amed.

Three strategic objectives for the Chaplaincy

Commissioner Colonel-Major Agré Dindji Blaise , chairman of the steering committee, placed this new temple under the aegis of Psalm 46 verse 8 : “The Lord of Hosts is with us.” According to him, this project marks the end of a period of stagnation for the chaplaincy and pursues three main objectives:

1. The strengthening of faith .
2. Social support for families .
3. Strengthening the Army-Nation bond .

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Téné Birahima Ouattara , as well as to the Chief of Staff, for transforming a formerly ruined building into a modern place of worship.

Consecration and Hope

The highlight of the day was the prayer of consecration . God's servants officially dedicated the space to the Eternal, invoking protection and blessing upon the defense and security forces.

The ceremony concluded with a tour of the facilities, symbolizing a key step in improving living and working conditions within Ivorian barracks. This sanctuary is now intended to be a constant source of light for the soldiers' daily lives, united in their pursuit of lasting peace.
