Autisme en Côte d’Ivoire : L'INSP sonne la mobilisation générale pour un dépistage précoce
Under the leadership of its Director General, Professor William Yavo, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) organized a major scientific conference. The objective: to break the silence surrounding autism and transform its management into a genuine national effort.
“Early detection. Working together. Sustainable inclusion.” This is not just a slogan, but the rallying cry of the Scientific and Community Day recently held in Abidjan. For Professor William Yavo, the ambition is clear: to make the INSP a center of excellence capable of meeting the challenges of neurodevelopment.
A clear-eyed assessment of current shortcomings. Invited to deliver the inaugural lecture, Professor Julie Sackou-Kouakou presented a frank assessment of the situation. Despite efforts, the journey for families remains fraught with obstacles: diagnoses that are too late, a lack of trained specialists, and prohibitive treatment costs.
Public health, everyone's business. Faced with these barriers, the message from the Director General of the INSP (National Institute of Public Health) is clear: the State cannot act alone. The fight against stigmatization and for inclusion must involve the private sector, NGOs, donors, and every Ivorian citizen. Experts, families, and decision-makers thus came together for panel discussions to outline the contours of a more inclusive Côte d'Ivoire.
