Bocanda : Les résidences des députés N’Zi Éliane et Athanase Koffi prises pour cible
The political climate is tense within Ivory Coast's oldest party. On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the homes of N'Zi Éliane and Athanase Koffi , both members of parliament for the Bocanda constituency, were targeted by acts of vandalism.
The alert was raised by sources close to the PDCI-RDA and relayed through viral videos on social media. The images show significant damage, including numerous broken windows , attesting to the violence of the attack carried out by individuals whose identities remain unknown.
Although no official claim of responsibility has been made, these incidents are occurring against a backdrop of acute internal crisis. Just a week ago, the two elected officials announced their withdrawal from the PDCI-RDA parliamentary group.
Unlike other, more discreet dissidents, N'Zi Éliane and Athanase Koffi had openly criticized the group's leadership:
Faced with this escalation, the PDCI-RDA's top leadership is attempting to contain the situation. Manoua Geneviève , deputy executive secretary, firmly called the various protagonists to order:
"Publicly airing internal disputes will not serve the image, cohesion, or interests of the party."
She urged party officials and activists to prioritize internal dialogue mechanisms provided for in the party's texts rather than public confrontation.
Editorial analysis: These acts of vandalism mark a worrying turning point in the turmoil that the PDCI-RDA has been experiencing for several months. They illustrate the party's difficulty in maintaining its internal unity as the next political deadlines approach.
