Bongouanou : Reprise du trafic à Broukro après une journée de tensions
Calm is fragile but very real in Broukro , a village in the commune of Bongouanou. This Wednesday, February 25, 2026, traffic resumed normally on the road leading to M'Batto, marking the end of a blockade imposed by some local youth.
The anger stemmed from the previous day, Tuesday, when young people erected barricades to demand the release of their comrades . The latter had been arrested earlier at a gold mining site.
The intervention of the defense and security forces was necessary to restore order:
Although vehicles are now circulating freely again, the atmosphere remains tense. Security patrols are crisscrossing the village to prevent any further unrest.
When questioned about the situation, the president of the Broukro youth, Boni Jean-Baptiste , expressed a feeling of uncertainty:
"The situation appears calm, but fear remains because no one knows if an aftershock is brewing."
He also condemned the violence of these demonstrations, recalling that negotiation remains the best option to achieve a favorable outcome.
