Bouna, Ivory Coast – The Bouna prosecutor's office has arrested a 53-year-old man, KY, from the village of Dédi (Nassian sub-prefecture), for manslaughter during a nighttime hunting trip. This information was relayed on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, by judicial sources to the AIP (Ivorian Press Agency).
According to KY's statement, the incident occurred on the night of February 2nd. While walking along a wooded trail through the forest, a branch allegedly caught the trigger of his 12-gauge shotgun, which he was carrying slung over his shoulder. This unexpected contact reportedly caused an accidental discharge that fatally struck his hunting companion, who was walking ahead of him.
Following the tragedy, KY returned to the village alone without alerting anyone, explaining that he had been paralyzed by the fear of a possible violent reaction from the villagers.
It was only several days later, faced with the insistence and questions of the missing man's relatives, that KY finally confessed and indicated the exact location of the accident. His friend's body was found in the forest at the designated spot, but unfortunately in an advanced state of decomposition .
Alerted, the gendarmerie arrested the hunter and brought him before the Bouna prosecutor's office. KY is now awaiting trial.
The trial is scheduled for November 12 before the Bouna Court of First Instance.
